The Telegraph Hill Festival is almost upon us again. It has been running for over 25 years now and is one of the largest independently run festivals in London. After a successful first year last year, we are hosting another series of ecologically themed events. This year, we will be focusing on community resilience and waste management. To kick us off, Dr Gail Bradbrook (co-founder of Extinction Rebellion) will give a talk on her Life house project, which supports communities in preparing for emergency situations. We will also be screening Power Station, a heart warming film about community engagement and one couple’s extraordinary quest to fund raise for their street’s solar project.

As part of our focus on waste management we will be launching the first ever Upcycling Academy with a day of repair and upcycling where members of the community can come and learn how to mend a bike or an electrical item, or upcycle clothes and reclaimed wood. In addition to this, we will be running Guest Chef fortnight, a series of hands-on cookery workshops throughout the festival where local chefs demonstrate how to prepare a simple, tasty meal using surplus vegetables donated by the Felix project.

In total there will be more than 40 talks and workshops to choose from, which will all be
hosted at the Somerville Adventure
Playground with the aim of supporting it in becoming a beacon community hub.
