Every Saturday from 1.30pm the Catford Community Fridge opens its chiller to distributes surplus food to community group and local people in Catford.
Lana the founder of the Catford Community Fridge Project told us that she is happy to say that the fridge is running smoothly. After the pre-launch in July we started on the 28th of September and have been open every Saturday since, handing out 50 bags of food weekly to FoodCycle users as they leave the meal. We pick up food from our suppliers and combine it with FoodCycle left over food and by this weekend we would have saved and distributed over a tonne of food!! Feedback from Foodcycle users have also been very positive and users have reported to us that they " feel that the new system is more fair".
